In support of Jordanian youth
Jordan Telecom Group opens a specialized on-campus training center in telemarketing for university students

Amman, 28th November 2006

Jordan Telecom Group CEO Mickael Ghossein and Jordan University President Dr. Abdul-Rahman Huneiti have jointly inaugurated the Telemarketing Center at the university campus.  The center will host students who work as marketing staff for the Group's services through telemarketing.  The opening of the center is part of a joint cooperation agreement signed between Jordan Telecom and the university, under which JT has set up the center.

Ghossein said the center is a translation of His Majesty the King's vision, which looks to support Jordanian youth and fight poverty and unemployment by providing them with work opportunities.  "Jordan Telecom has been committed to the country and people and works to effectively contribute to economic, social and technological development," said Ghossein.  He added that the new initiative will attract a group of students, who will be trained and educated in telemarketing and eventually reap considerable employment and financial benefit by taking up part time jobs with the Group.

"We have always sought to stay close to our customers and meet their ever growing needs with minimal time and effort," said Ghossein, expressing pride that the Group has led the way in providing this training opportunity to students inside campus.  He said the move will bring professional and financial benefit to the students, taking the opportunity to renew the Group's commitment to the society's sustainable development.

Jordan University's President, Dr. Huneiti hailed the Group's ongoing efforts to upgrade and avail all types of communications services and other specialized technology solutions to the public, which he said will surely contribute to the society's advancement.  "Today we reap the fruit of our joint cooperation and the dividends of a partnership between our university, with its academic capabilities and the Group, with all its resources and infrastructure," said Huneiti.  He added that the center is a leading and pioneering project that will provide the work market with qualified and well trained human resources who will have the opportunity to enhance their creative abilities and become independent individuals with a constructive role to play in their society.

Jordan Telecom established the Telemarketing Dept. in early 2005 so as to reach the largest number of customers and keep them informed about the latest services and offers available by the Group to meet their various needs.   The Group has recruited a number of distinguished university students, from state run and private educational institutions, to work as telemarketing sales men on part time basis.  The move was positively welcomed by both students and customers, encouraging the Group to take it a step further.
