Orange, the main commercial brand of France Telecom Group, participated in the main sponsorship of “The Walk…Moving Forward.  The event was held in Aqaba in cooperation with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, the Royal Film Commission, No Budget Film and Pioneers Production.

Orange’s participation has been rated second globally amongst telecom brands, in terms of its demonstration of sponsoring social responsibility events.  This has been manifested in communities where France Telecom operates, with Jordan being one of them.

The Walk started from the Intercontinental Aqaba hotel, and ended at the Greater Arab Revolt Square.  Short movies were shown in the Square, viewed by a number of artists, media representatives, and stars.  The initiative aims to lay the foundation for a Jordanian Cinema industry.

Mr Philippe Vogeleer, the Chief Executive Officer of the Strategies Sector at the Jordan Telecom Group, said with Orange’s support, being an international Company owned by France Telecom, in sponsoring the walk, stems from its faith that the industry of film making is a way of interaction, that Orange tries to spread and enhance in the world.

History of the Orange brand before its being owned by France Telecom goes back to its foundation in 1994. France Telecom now provides its services in 220 countries, through over 200 thousand employees, and claims 153 million subscribers, 100 million of which are Orange subscribers.

Vogeleer added that the Jordan Telecom Group activities and Orange shall endeavour together to achieve several kinds of development, that concern youth’s education, culture, and innovation.  It also encourages people to express themselves by interacting, through speaking, singing, acting, writing, dancing, and other cultural activities.

He carried on to say that the Walk, which aims to invigorate the film making industry in the Arab World, meets Orange aims in alleviating the (standards) of societies in the region, through giving them an opportunity to express themselves.

It is worth noting that the understanding of the strategic partner for the JTG, the France Telecom Group, and its subsidiary – Orange, for social responsibility is based on  supporting the poor, developing innovation, and the spreading of culture and music.
