Orange Jordan to provide mobile communication services to the government

The Minister of Finance Dr. Mohammad Abu Hammour signed an agreement on behalf of the Jordanian Government with Jordan Telecom Group - Orange Jordan, represented by our CEO Nayla Khawam, to provide mobile communication services to the government.

Abu Hammour explained that the agreement falls in line with the government’s cost regulation and cutting policy, under which the government has designated a singular tender to cover the communication needs of all ministries and public departments, universities and institutions at minimum cost. He added that the recent developments in the Jordanian telecommunication landscape and the prices of mobile phone services mandated the transfer of the tender to provide these services to government, as outlined by the government’s provisions system.

The agreement was signed following a comprehensive tender announcement process, in which calls for tenders were published in local newspapers and proposals were scrutinized to meet the government’s standards. Through this agreement, the government has acquired best-in-class mobile services as offered by Jordan Telecom Group at the lowest possible price, which will help reduce government expenditure on communication.

Abu Hammour further noted that the control departments at the various ministries, government offices and public universities have been instructed to verify the flawless implementation of the agreement by all parties involved. These departments will also verify the features and prices of the services provided as outlined by the agreement so as to guarantee a reduction in their allocated budgets.

Dr. Shabib Ammari, Chairman of Jordan Telecom Group’s Board of Directors, underlined the importance of this event, saying: “The awarding of this tender to Orange Jordan highlights the integral role played by the company in  the Kingdom’s telecom revolution, not to mention the solid relationship the company shares with the government and people of Jordan. This creates further motivation for us to reach new heights in quality and innovation.”

Ammari explained that, being the sole provider of 3G+ services in the Kingdom, Orange Jordan has propelled the development of the Jordanian telecommunication sector.

Our CEO Nayla Khawam expressed her joy at the signing of the agreement, saying: “This agreement comes to crown the efforts exerted by Orange Jordan throughout the years towards providing the highest quality services to Jordanians everywhere. It is a real-life translation of our ‘together we can do more’ vision, illustrating the great faith the Jordanian government has in us and the bright future that awaits the two parties. We would like to extend our gratitude to the government for awarding this tender to Jordan Telecom Group”.
