Orange Jordan and the Orange Foundation, France Telecom's Corporate social responsibility arm, have signed an agreement with the Jordan River Foundation (JRF), whereby Orange will grant JD 500.000 to support over the next five years Madrasati initiative, the first of its kind initiative launched by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah in a bid to provide a better educational environment for school students.
The agreement was signed by Jordan Telecom Group CEO Mr. Mickael Ghossein, Orange Foundation's Secretary General, Mr. Olivier Chernyak, and Director General of JRF, Ms.Valentina Qussisiya.
Mr. Ghossein expressed his delight at signing this agreement which is part of the joint projects with France Telecom that aim at developing and improving the Jordanian society. He said: '' Orange is committed to effectively contribute in the technological, economical and social progress in Jordan, and today Orange adds a new initiative directed towards the community, particularly educational institutions''.
'' The first phase of our work in this initiative will support the infrastructure maintenance of four schools distributed among the Kingdom’s governorates and support their educational programs in addition to providing quality tools for the teaching and learning process in these schools'', Ghossein added.
These schools are: Izz al Dein al- Qassam Primary School, Queen Alia School for the Deaf, Al Rajam al Shami Primary Western School, and Al Rajam al Shami Secondary Western School.
Mr. Ghossein highlighted that ever since its establishment in the Kingdom, Orange has realized its social responsibility towards Jordan and believed that it has a role in the Royal initiatives and visions that shape the future of Jordan and its citizens. Accordingly, Orange has always contributed to the development of the educational process in Jordan to elevate it to a distinctive level. He pointed out that from the beginning of this year; Orange Jordan has started implementing its program for the seven adopted schools for this school year within the INJAZ program which creates economic opportunities for Jordanian youth. Through this program that is distributed among seven different regions of the country, Orange aims at improving the schools’ facilities that have direct effect on the educational and learning process, in addition to recruiting the expertise and skills of its volunteer employees to build the individual and leadership skills of the schools’ students and expand their economic knowledge.

From her side, Ms. Valentina underlined the significant contribution presented by both Orange Jordan and Orange Foundation and their prompt action to take part in this Royal initiative that aims at repairing and restoring the kingdom's public schools to make them safer, brighter, better equipped, and more inspiring learning environments. She also stressed the importance of involving each and every organization among the Kingdom to contribute in supporting Madrasati Initiative. ''This Royal initiative is the responsibility of the entire kingdom's organizations and institutions and it also relies on the help of the private sector which plays an important role in fulfilling the goals of the initiative '', she said.
It is worth mentioning that the Orange Foundation has in the past 20 years developed programs that support the community, helping people stay in touch, and emphasizing the concept of social solidarity. Moreover, the Orange Foundation supports non-profit projects in 27 countries worldwide, helping the less fortunate segments of the society in addition to its contribution in spreading music and culture.
