Jordan Telecom Group faces region wide internet glitch with comprehensive plan
Two of the main international submarines cables ( Flag and SMW4 cables ) connecting the Middle East with Europe and USA have suffered a total outage due to sub –sea –cable cut between Egypt and Europe , impacting the overall international traffic of the region and the Gulf Cooperation Council ( GCC )Countries.
As a result of this incident Jordan Telecom Group stressed its full readiness to take all necessary measures and investigate all the possibilities to add further international capacity in a very short time to further minimize the partial impact that affected its international IP capacity especially that the announcements made by cable system owners FLAG and SMW4, show that the restoration period will take between 10 to 12 days- as per their initial estimations - until the cables are back again to provide same high level services .
Mr. Mickael Ghossein , CEO of Jordan Telecom Group underlined the Group's continuous efforts in minimizing the interruption's impact saying ''in anticipation of such rare but possible occurrences , JTG has extensively invested in building a diversified and protected international network over the past 2 years which has made it possible to maintain continuity in the service '' . He pointed out that available bandwidth of the Group is 60% of the normal capacity installed, demonstrating that the Group is taking all necessary measures to add further international capacity and restore the quality of service it usually delivers in a very short time.
''We appreciate our customers' cooperation and understanding of this unfortunate incident beyond our control, and in spite of this the Group continues to prove once again its credibility in facing such exceptional cases ''.
