(Amman, February, 2009): Orange Jordan, the sole integrated telecom operator in the Kingdom, and Al Azem Telecommunications, Orange distributor, signed an agreement with Al al-Bayt University. The agreement was signed by the Orange Mobile CEO Mrs. Majd Shweikeh, the General Manger of Al-Azem Telecommunications Mr. Ibrahim Al-Maghayrah, and the President of Al al-Bayt University Dr. Nabil Shawagfeh.
By virtue of the agreement, Orange Jordan to install cellular terminals to enhance network coverage within the university and to set up 25 benches for the students in the campus of the university as well as 3 waiting sheds at bus stops. Additionally and under the agreement, Al-Azem Telecommunications will grant JD2500 for the poor student fund, 1000 T-Shirts, 10 computers and 2 kiosks inside the premises of the university to promote Orange offers and services.
Orange Mobile CEO Mrs. Shweikeh expressed her confidence in the results of this agreement as it comes in line with Orange strategy towards the youth segment, stressing that Orange Jordan has an extensive experience and the required capacity to implement such projects. Shweikeh expressed pride in the trust and loyalty of Orange clients and added: “Such agreements are a reflection of JTG’s continuous efforts to reach all segments of the society, especially students, and to provide them with easy access to its services” added Mrs. Shweikeh.
Mrs. Shweikeh clarified that through this agreement both students and the surrounding community will benefit form Orange services. She explained that Orange will expand its services in the future, especially internet and that it will establish scientific labs in the university.
“We are looking forward to achieving the maximum benefit for all parties through this agreement, and we commit to providing Orange with complete support to achieve its goals in providing the best telecommunications services, in addition to opening the door for investments to develop the local universities and serve the students’ community” The General Manger of Al Azem Telecommunications Mr. Ibrahim Al-Maghayrah added.
For his side, the president of Al al-Bayt University Dr. Nabil Shawagfeh clarified that this cooperation with Orange is considered as part of the university’s policy to contribute in developing community services, in addition to the major role it plays in the scientific and academic fields, and the indirect participation to develop ICT level and open the door to all national companies to excellence in this rapidly developing mobile world.
