Nayla Khawam assumes CEO position at Orange Jordan

Jordan telecom group "Orange", the sole provider of integrated telecom services in Jordan, has announced that Mrs. Nayla Khawam will assume her new responsibility as Chief Executive Officer of Jordan Telecom Group, as of July 1, 2009.

Mrs. Khawam has accumulated throughout her long career, a clear vision which she plans to invest in evolving Orange Jordan while maintaining its pioneering place locally and regionally, through providing its customers with world class services.

 Mrs. Khawam expressed her delight in joining Orange Jordan’s family saying: "It is my pleasure to head the highly qualified team of Orange Jordan employees, so we can, together, continue the journey towards growth and even greater achievements, adding to the milestones we have accomplished in one of the most competitive telecom markets in the region.

Through its capabilities, experiences and the way it does business, which is derived from its partner France Telecom, Orange Jordan is ready to further excel, face new challenges and provide new opportunities for our customers, thus enhancing the Group's reputation and competitiveness even more," Mrs. Khawam added.

Mrs. Khawam was born in Lebanon and had resided in France most of her life. She occupied, through her far reaching career in the telecommunication sector specially her experience in France Telecom, many high ranking positions, the last of which was Area Director of the largest French region the "Paris Region" where she was in charge of commercial and technical departments for mass markets and business clients.

 She was a member of Orange France committee, and she worked as the head of customer service for fixed, mobile and internet in addition to, that Mrs. Khawam held the position of Strategic Planning Director in France Telecom, which made her, at the time, participate in the negotiations with the French government over the liberating of telecommunication market.

Mrs. Khawam supports the participation of women in all business fields, believing that they are capable of holding leadership positions that enable them to take decisions and delegate authority to subordinates, in addition to follow up on achieving them, hence elevating women status.

Mrs. Kawam received her certificate in statistical economics from National Institute for Statistics and Management Economy, while she received her certificate in mathematics from the University of Paris. She is married with two children.
