Jordan Telecom ready to Face Flag Technical Problems

Jordan Telecom confirmed its readiness to face any congestion on Internet connectivity and international calls with some countries as a result of the rerouting that Flag has undertook in Jeddah at Saudi Arabia on 18th July 2006.
As the cables carry the largest load of voice and Internet from and to Jordan to the whole region, the company has announced to its customers that some congestion might happen in outgoing calls to Gulf countries, as the international switches might be busy and Internet users might face slowness in connectivity between 7th –17th August 2006, due to the maintenance procedures which are being done for the Flag Cable in Jeddah.
“Jordan Telecom is in full force to reduce the impact of these issues on customers, we have coordinated with Flag in order to make the disconnection in the minimum period of time, ad it will not exceed eight hours for the whole period of maintenance, as we all know all telecom companies are being services through Flag cables and all countries in the world will get affected,” said Alain Bridard, Group Chief Technical and Network Officer. “Some congestion might happen to certain areas, but Jordan Telecom will definitely prove its readiness and capability to face emergency in exceptional conditions, and preserve the good of its customers and the country Although these issues are out of Jordan Telecom ‘s control and are taking place out of the country, but we are determined to provide quality services to our customers.”
In order to ensure the flow of communication between Jordan and countries around the world, the Fiber optic flag is not the only international transit point for Jordan Telecom, as it owns high quality international network in addition to other direct networks with neighboring countries.
